I am a special education teacher and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst fortunate to work in a district that prioritizes keeping our students in district so that they can remain in school with their peers. This benefits all students and allows my students to develop relationships with their peers. We should be working on how to better fund schools so that they can provide the specialized services that allow all students to be included in their neighborhood schools rather than segregating students. Shipping kids to a “central school” increases transportation times for those students and denies peers the ability to get to know their amazing classmates. Please reject this bill.
