I am the president of a lake association and support the increase in the mooring fee. Cyanobacteria is becoming a major threat to the health of our lakes. Volunteer lake associations are doing all they can to prevent blooms, but also dealing with the impact of more frequent blooms. It is difficult to predict when blooms will occur or how severe they might be. Many lakes are not financially equipped to handle the financial impact and will need financial assistance in the future.. This increase in fees is one way to plan for this greater financial need. The current $25 mooring fee is modest, so the increase should not cause financial hardship.
