I am a resident of MA but co-own a cottage on Winnipesaukee. Our family has owned this cottage for close to a hundred years but for the past two or three years there have been many times when we could not swim or allow our dogs to go into the lake because of cyanobacteria blooms. We are now told that the biggest reason for these blooms is the use of "neonics", chemicals that are being used for treating seeds and pesticides for lawns, etc. I truly hope that use of these seeds and pesticides is banned before it's too late.
