As introduced, this bill is an anti 2A bill wearing a pro 2A mask. The sponsors need to reach out to former Representatives Kevin Craig(Lancaster) or JR Hoell(somewhere down south) for recommendations or who is savvy on firearms laws and firearms configurations within the House and Senate. Then consult that law and firearm savvy legislator before introducing these bills. As someone who has used firearms personally and professionally for almost 40 years, I'll say and I think we all agree, that words within the law means things. The additional language the sponsors tacked on to RSA 207:1, XIV-a with "so long as no round is chambered" has a broad ranging negative effect on all manners of carry regardless of the "For the purposes of this section" language. The sponsors are driving firearm users along a slippery slope that lawyers would love to push a firearm owner off of. To fix this bill and continue, remove the additional language you added to RSA 207:1, XIV-a. To make this a pro 2A bill, make it repeal the entirety of RSA 215-C:35. Ask yourself why that restriction or infringement on the right to keep and bear arms even exists. If it is to remove the possibility of road hunting, well there aren't too many open major game seasons during snowmobile season. Furthermore, road hunting is already illegal. Are we as a state in the business of policing thought crimes now? Further reasons that RSA 215-C:35 should be completely repealed is it already allows pistols and revolvers. Under both federal and NH definitions, I can carry a loaded .308 with a 15.5" barrel and a brace and be completely legal in NH. The feds will call it a braced pistol. NH will call it a pistol. It will look and function just like a rifle. Find a gun and gun law nerd and please fix this.
