Hepatitis B vaccine is safe and prevents a serious disease. Why would you create confusion around it by making it "optional?" An increase in Hepatitis B outbreaks requiring emergency response would also cost the state money. Perhaps your grandparents, like mine, taught you the old and wise adage, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It made sense then and makes sense now.
