HB1068 introduces unnecessary and confusing changes by redefining short-term rentals as “hotels,” despite the fact that STRs are already regulated and taxed appropriately under existing law. This bill would significantly and unfairly penalize responsible property owners who contribute to New Hampshire’s tourism economy and local tax base. Short-term rentals already pay meals and rooms taxes, support local businesses, and provide critical lodging options in communities where hotels are limited or unavailable.
