Killing people is immoral. Nothing can justify taking a human life, except perhaps to protect another human life. Study after study shows that would be murders do not change their behavior because they fear the death penalty. A person in jail presents no danger to society. The sole purpose of the death penalty is to exact revenge, and that is not a moral justification for committing another crime. The death penalty debases our society.
