James Bomersbach

Please do not vote for this bill. I would like to raise my future children in New Hampshire. I would like them to be able to attend a well funded and supported public school. I want them to have access to books that challenge them and that inform them of the larger world that they are stepping into. This bill places an undue burden on school principals where they could have to spend hours to justify the existence of every single book (of thousands!) that sits on their library shelves. Then it places a further burden on the school board to justify the same existence of these books over again. All of this assumes that the principal or school board will be willing and able to articulate the value of books. No place in this law would there be any attempt to hear from the students themselves or what value they receive from having access to these books. I strongly encourage you to support our schools, support children's literacy, and to reject this bill.
