I oppose the passage of this bill. This bill is designed to create undo stress on the school's teachers and staff by forcing all to add lots of time outside the day's work. A teacher must create a defense of the materials carefully chosen to educate the children truthfully about life, about the culture they live in, and about the cultures beyond their own. This law describes a procedure that is punishing of the school's staff. If the state legislature wants to allow any parent who may or may not have a legitimate gripe to do this anytime they want, then the legislature needs to provide a state-funded fund to pay any school's lawyer, or teacher or school staff member forced to add to their already overburdened work loads. To prepare and deliver defenses of curricula choices, any school staff should be paid time-and-a-half overtime pay to deal with each situation. The school's lawyer needs to be paid by the same fund as well. At the same time, the state could allow the school/staff to sue any parent who launches a frivolous or unwarranted complaint causing undo and grievous stress. This bill, like so many of the others, seems like big government making yet another work-loaded demand on public schools of NH.
