I oppose SB33 because it is an unnecessary bill that could be used as a tool to ban books in public schools. Most schools already have established processes for reviewing educational materials, making this legislation redundant. I'm especially concerned that the books most likely to be targeted are those representing LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities of color. Removing these titles limits students' ability to see themselves reflected in literature and can harm those from marginalized identities.
