Access to health care should not be tied to working. There are major barriers in our state to maintaining employment (e.g., high costs of childcare and limited access; lack of supports/training for individuals with limited work history, emotional or physical disabilities to get into the work force and remain there). Cutting of health insurance in the context of these barriers is not only cruel but not cost effective. People will still need treatment and will instead access it in a more costly manner - through the ER.
