The state dictating to a town to change zoning is breaking g the implied contract homeowners have with the town. Homes are planned and spaced by zoning. If in a rural area with 5 acre zoning, I expect my neighbor’s home to be a certain distance away and not to have a new lot sneak in on my property. This rural zoning keeps happy neighbors who need buffers for dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and other common small farm animals. Dictating the shrinking of zoning without input by those affected, as it would be at Town Meeting, is so wrong for NH that I’m shocked the GOP is behind this. In Chesterfield, of which Spofford is a village, we just voted on a bunch of zoning ordinance changes to loosen things - including adding accessory dwellings and allowing residential in commercial. Leave it to the towns!! All YOU electeds in Concord are more than welcome to lead zoning change efforts in YOUR towns. Leave mine alone.
