At Ascentria, we’ve seen firsthand how the Granite Advantage Health Care Program—New Hampshire’s Medicaid expansion—provides vital support to individuals and families across our state. ' Through programs like our NH In-Home Care service, which is funded through Medicaid, we help low-wage adults live with dignity and independence by providing essential care in the comfort of their homes. This includes assistance with daily living, personal care, and health-related needs that allow people to remain in their communities. Senate Bill 134 threatens to undermine that support by imposing unnecessary and burdensome work requirements on people covered by Medicaid expansion. These barriers could take away life-sustaining care from individuals who are already working, caring for loved ones, managing serious health issues, or pursuing education. Data shows that 91% of adults enrolled in Medicaid are already engaged in work, caregiving, education, or coping with a disability or illness. For many, access to health care is the very thing that makes work possible. Stripping away that access will not increase employment—it will simply put more people at risk. Let’s work together to protect access to care for our neighbors and ensure that programs like NH In-Home Care can continue to serve those who need them most.
