I have a son who has a severe mental illness that renders it impossible for him to maintain a job during periods of serious illness. When he has been stable and healthy, he always tries to maintain employment. Due to his illness, which is bipolar disorder I, he sometimes is completely incapacitated for periods of time. I also have a stepson with Down Syndrome who is completely incapable of work at any time. This bill is short-sighted at best and heinous at worst. I wholeheartedly oppose it. I also served for six years as one of the first mobile crisis clinicians in the state of NH, in Manchester. There are so many individuals who fall into the category of SMI-related debility who would be immediately and possibly irrevocably harmed by this bill.
