I think it’s important to remember that not every kid has a safe home. That telling a parent their child might be gay, could make a home less safe for that child. Children trust teachers. There has to be trust and respect to learn. If the parent doesn’t already know this about their child, then there is a reason their child hasn’t opened up to them. I fear for the children this will put in unnecessary danger. And no one should be outted against their will. That is supremely unethical. I am strongly opposed to this bill. It will make our children less safe, will undermine the respect and trust children have in our schools and teachers, and is a gross overstep in these children’s privacy and lives.
