The Renewable Energy Fund has been used previously to fund almost 10,000 rebates for renewable energy systems to NH homeowners, businesses, schools, towns, non-profit organizations and other eligible entities. This bill would instead use those funds for insignificant short-term savings on energy bills. Using the money that way would not mean a great savings for any individual rate-payer. It would be much better to spend the $20 million that is in the Renewable Energy Fund on projects that would increase energy independence and reduce energy bills over a long period rather than just a short-term gain.
