Destiny Brady

Dear Members of the NH Ways and Means Commitee. I am a Bow, NH resident and teach nursng in Manchester, NH at Saint Anselm College. I am a registered nurse and strongly oppose the repeal of the NH Vaccine Association. Vaccinations keep our community safe from the harms of transmissible disease that less than 75 years ago had devastating outcomes for children and adults. While it has been a long time since we have seen the devastation of Polio, it seems diseases we thought were eradicated are now back in full force. This is why it is critical that we support organizations like the NH Vaccine Association that improves access for children to receive vaccinations. My husband had measles as a child and while he managed to come out unscathed from this illness, he recounts the weeks he spent with such severe light sensitivity that his parents had to black out his windows. These diseases are serious and we owe it to the health of our community to ensure that all children have access to these vaccinations at no cost or reduced cost. No child should die from measles or other vaccine preventable diseases.
