From a humane standpoint, it makes sense to come together as a community and offer poor children and their parents, the ability to get vaccinations from lifelong debilitating diseases. From a practical standpoint, it is going to cost the state and taxpayers much less money if we have children who are healthy, instead of children, who are sick with terrible, preventable diseases who are from families who cannot afford healthcare. This seems like something where we pay a little bit now in order to save big expenses later. Plus, of course it is no fault of the children that they are born in poor families, and as a society and state, if we can all chip in a little bit of taxpayer money to make these children so they do not get debilitating diseases than that is the right thing to do.
