I strongly OPPOSE HB610 to repeal the office of consumer advocate. The Office of the Consumer Advocate (OCA) acts as an independent voice for all NH ratepayers, and has been very successful. This bill would take away the independence/neutrality of the OCA by moving it to The Department of Energy (DOE) with political appointees. For example, the OCA’s current independent status allows it to advocate at the Public Utilities Commission, and has protected NH consumers from having larger increases in electrice rates. We have experienced this success, and more, first hand in our communities, You need to protect the OCA, so that NH consumers will be protected. Thank you.
