Good morning. The committee for Health, Human Services, and Elderly Affairs is hearing HB 377 and HB 712 today and I would like this to be my testimony for both bills. I ask the committee to vote these Inexpedient to Legislate. Legislators are not doctors having confidential conversations with their patients. These bills ban critical healthcare resources that are used for all kinds of people for a variety of different reasons. Aren't we supposed to be the "Live Free or Die" state? So why are we wasting time hearing bills that are more like "Live free except not because legislators actually want to dictate what kinds of health care are acceptable for you all"? This is an issue of letting doctors, parents, and patients decide what is best for themselves versus the unethical bill sponsors trying to control people's decisions. This isn't freedom, and this isn't safe. Please listen to healthcare professionals, and listen to the LBGTQ+ advocacy groups who are testifying against these bills. We don't need them and we need to stop attacking healthcare.
