I'm strongly opposed to this bill which would take away an independent office which would present the facts without prejudice to consumers and represent interests of consumers. By transferring this office to the State Department of Energy which is an executive branch agency which advances the energy and utility related policy agenda of the Governor, the utility companies could be favored over the interests of rate payers. New Hampshire has some of the highest rates among the New England states and with little transparency and no independent agency representing consumers, these rates could go even higher.
