I pay a lot of property tax and I’m happy to see it go to my town’s public education system. If another parent wishes to homeschool or send their child to a private/religious school, that is their prerogative; however, directing my local taxes to that is unjust. Homeschooling requires zero certifications to teach, private schools have different standards, and religion should not be funded by any public dollars. I do not want my hard-earned money going towards programs with such little oversight. Our goal with taxpayer dollars should be to improve our public schools, and my property tax is probably going up for the second time in two years due to an upcoming statistical revaluation- I don’t see why I should pay extra for the reasons stated above. Thank you.
