I urge you to oppose this bill as it places an enormous burden on local schools, and proposes to syphon off dollars to pay for educations at schools that lack transparency, avoid accountability, and discriminate against many of the children in my community. I take very seriously my job as school board member, and we are diligent in crafting a budget that provides a strong education while also acknowledging the financial burdens on the public. If passed, the bill would cause havoc in our budgeting, and it would completely dismiss the long accepted assumptions that educational needs are best met on a local level. While a member of my local school board, I am writing this as an individual.
