There are so many reasons I oppose this bill but I want to highlight the lack of transparency. Property taxpayers footing this bill would have no way to know, and have no say over, how private schools or home schools are using their money - what do they teach? what materials do they use? how qualified are the tutors and other providers they pay with vouchers? Where it’s public money, there should be public oversight, as there is within our public school districts via public budgets, public curricula, public test scores, and publicly elected school boards.
