Dear committee members, The New Hampshire interpreter licensure board has built trust with the New Hampshire ASL community for over 20 years. It’s existence as its own entity has offered Deaf community members a direct route to resolving grievances And violations of the code of professional conduct. The necessary cultural competence and linguistic awareness would be lost under the OPLC. With so many entities already under that umbrella, the New Hampshire interpreter licensure board cannot afford to be lost in the weeds. I am confident the necessary attention required to conduct the boards actions ethically is not under the purview of OPLC.
