As a longtime NH voter, I urge you to OPPOSE HB 317, which removes the ability for an election official who personally knows or recognizes a voter to attest to that voter’s identity if they do not have a photo ID. This is an anti-voter bill that is clearly meant to make casting a ballot more difficult for voters who may not have their proof of identity in hand at the polls for various reasons. Instead of putting up barriers to voting, all of us must work to restore trust in the integrity of our election officials and our election system which has proven safe, secure and accurate time and again. New Hampshire should expand the options for voter identification, not restrict them. I urge you to strongly oppose HB 317 to protect the right to vote for every qualified voter in New Hampshire. We should be doing everything possible to encourage more voter participation in elections by making it easier to vote, and not more difficult. .
