Please Support of HB 360 Chairman and Members of the Committee, I am writing today to express my strong support for HB 360, which prohibits public schools from performing diagnostic tests, surgical procedures, or prescribing pharmaceutical drugs. Medical decisions should remain in the hands of parents and licensed healthcare professionals, not schools. While educators play a vital role in our children’s lives, they are not trained medical providers, nor should they be placed in a position where they are making or facilitating healthcare decisions without parental consent. Parents have the right to direct their children’s medical care, and schools should focus on their primary mission—education. Allowing medical procedures or prescriptions in schools could lead to unintended consequences, including misdiagnoses, inappropriate treatments, or the erosion of parental rights. HB 360 ensures that children receive medical care from the appropriate professionals while protecting the integrity of both the education system and family decision-making.
