Samantha McGarry | Oppose HB360

Committee members, thank you for allowing me to voice my opposition to HB360. The language as written could be used to prevent necessary screenings done routinely by school nurses related for hearing and vision. To support this bill is also to dictate what a provider may or may not do within the scope of their license. There are instances where having the capacity to receive a prescription for common infections such as strep throat or pink eye would be beneficial. Although a provider may have the capacity to prescribe it does not mean that a parent must treat or medicate their child. Diagnostic tests also include things such as blood pressure reading, heart rate monitoring, temperature - they are non-invasive but can be necessary to alert medical professionals as to whether additional medical attention is needed. This is a blatant overreach into that which is clearly not understood by its supporters. Thank you for allowing me to share my comments and I ask that you please oppose this bill.
