As a resident of Bow, and independent family physician in Concord and father of school-aged children, I oppose this naïvely overreaching bill. Qualified healthcare providers should be permitted to provide services commensurate with their level of training and licensure and appropriate to the setting. If my child is experiencing symptoms of an acute anaphylactic reaction- a nurse should ABSOLUTELY use all of her diagnostic skill to determine the threat to life, and administer epinephrine -- a prescription medication. If an athlete is injured, exactly what "diagnostic procedure" can the sideline physician provide? Can he examine them? perform a point-of-care ultrasound if so equipped and trained? What about suturing the laceration of a hockey player? technically a surgical procedure... When I was 7 years old, I got a splinter under my fingernail, which my school nurse removed. Yes, that, too, is technically a surgical procedure. Please find this bill inexpedient to legislate.
