Iris Altilio

A lot of people are supporting this bill, stating that they agree that the Secretary of State (S0S) should verify voters. This bill is not saying that. It's saying that the SoS should run a report and that the supervisors should verify voters before every election. While it has merits, is this a reasonable request of supervisors? This means reviewing the list, sending letters to any voter who filed a permanent change of address form, and removing all voters who do not respond and come in to prove their current address. It means that a voter who moved and filed a change of address, but has not had the opportunity to change voter registration to his/her new town in NH will be removed. That voter will then have to provide proof of citizenship to register in his/her new town It means that the supervisors will be preparing for a September primary, or completing post primary work, while at the same time, trying to work a list of NCOA changes for the November election, or working a NCOA list for a town election while finishing up work from a presidential primary. This is probably more than three supervisors, especially those in a large town, can accomplish. Perhaps asking that this verification be done more than annually is reasonable, but if so, it should be scheduled for times that are not conflicting with pre or post election prep. Respectively submitted, Iris Altilio Supervisor of the Checklist / Pembroke, NH
