This bill would deprive towns and school districts of an important voice in the legislative process and deprive the legislature of much-needed expertise by banning those people most directly involved in the issue before the legislature from providing their knowledge and opinion, informed by experience. A fire chief or police chief could not weigh in on a public safety issue, a transportation worker could not weigh in on a traffic or road issue, etc. Not only does this not make sense, it is a violation of free speech.
