Our state has arguably the strongest tradition of respect for personal individual privacy of any state. When I served in the General Court many years ago, with only a small handful of exceptions, every member of this body upheld that principle as it applied to reproductive rights in general and the right to choose abortion in particular. I urge all members of this committee to recognize that any failure to strongly support ALL rights to personal individual privacy will lead to an erosion of New Hampshire's privacy rights more broadly. Granite Staters must proudly stand up for the rights of all, even those with whom we may strongly disagree. If we fail at that, ultimately every citizen's freedom will be at risk.
