This legislation is wrong and does not allow for the local leaders elected democratically to represent their communities to actually represent their communities. In a state that holds freedom at the front of their priorities limiting the freedom of leaders of our communities to act on behalf of their communities is wrong. It even goes farther and threatens fines and prosecution if an official does speak on behalf of their community or for or against legislation. I am also against the anti lobbying portion of this bill. If a Town wants to hire or work with a person or agency to help inform the legislature on how a certain bill would affect their community, why is that a bad thing. Many small Towns are located quite some distance from Concord and being able to get their to represent themselves is quite difficult. In addition keeping up with the multiple bills that get introduced annually is difficult for many not to mention a small staff that barely has enough time to get their work done. Finally, this sets a double standard, since the State of NH does this exact thing at the Federal level and would be appalled, if Congress tried to set similar limitations. Thank you for hearing me out, and please vote to HB314 Inexpedient to Legislate.
