I oppose HB 10 and what it insinuates for our professional staff, educators and medical professionals alike. This bill does not give parents more rights, instead it tries to control what our teachers and educators are trained to do and remove responsibility from parents to raise their children with good values at home. This bill is purposefully designed to be vague and give the parents the upper hand against educators and administration. I believe that I know my child and her needs best AND I also understand that I did not go to school for education and that I am not an expert in that field. Because of this, I think it is imperative that I meet with educators and carefully consider their background knowledge when it comes to my own children’s education. I do not think I should be interjecting my own personal/family beliefs into my children’s school day. Just as I don’t think my children’s educators would put their own personal beliefs into their teaching or our home life. I also think that parents should be holding their children responsible for their actions and be respectful role models. I am a parent of 2 preteens and I have benefited greatly from public education and value what our educators are doing each day for my children. I am not an educator, administrator or in the medical field, but I can see how sneaky this is and disagree with what you are trying to do with this bill. Please oppose this bill, as this is NOT a reflection of what the majority of parents in our (and your) community want!
