Elizabeth Fitzgerald | Oppose HB365

I oppose this bill as an unnecessary expense. Some community members do not have copies of their poof of citizenship documentation and to obtain them would be cost prohibitive for many community members. The affidavit system is where voters can provide a signed statement creating a paper train if needed or contested. Managing the voter enrollment is best managed by local authorities. Where funds are already slim and we are facing a tremendous cut in resources coming from the Federal Government, this doesn't seem to be a necessary step. If you decide to implement this law, please allocate funds for voter to cover the costs of the required documents to meet your criteria. Community members that do not have the $ to obtain copies of the proof of citizenship, should not be denied their right to vote. Thank you for considering my input on this matter.
