As a pediatric nurse practitioner for 41 years, I have seen the effect on foster children who are in care because they have experienced trauma that is well known to have long-term impact. Receiving survivor benefits, disability payments, and Veterans benefits for unmet needs for their future is the least we can do for these children as they hopefully move on to enjoy a healthier life.
