There is a search fee every time we access the State-wide database for vital records. Within our own municipality we can search for no cost however information cannot be given out unless the $15 fee is collected from the requestor. Leading up to an election, there are already long lines in many clerks' offices and having to call the SoS (who most likely will be overwhelmed with calls from around the State) will only further extend those lines.
