After my Mom had a stroke, she spent nearly a year re-learning how to walk. She still needed a walker, and fell frequently. She could no longer drive, was unable to fend for herself at home, and had to move to an assisted living facility. The last few years of her life, she wanted to vote, but getting to the polls was difficult at best. Absentee voting was her best option. Access to absentee ballots don’t need to be so difficult for the elderly and disabled, and reducing access to such ballots only prevents eligible voters from exercising their rights.
