Deborah Bacon Nelson

I am a forty year resident of the town of Hanover, and over those decades I have worked to encourage high school students and Dartmouth College students to be active in the community. We have worked together on: town zoning regulations, housing issues, establishing a food bank, charitable events that benefit the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth and the Cancer Center. Students have shoveled driveways, helped with home repairs, tutored community members, coached middle school teams, and volunteered in elections. Students enrolled at the Tuck School of Business have served on multiple town committees offering time and expertise, and students at the Medical School have also enriched this community as well as many in surrounding areas with their knowledge. All students are counted as part of the census, so they ought reasonably to be able to vote. Having worked at the polls for over three decades, I know that it is inaccurate to assume that these students all vote for candidates from the same party. That simply isn't true. I respectfully urge you to vote down this bill.
