Dear House Education Funding Committee, As an almost 50 year voting resident of NH, I urge you to SUPPORT this bill. I personally feel that we can afford to feed all children in school regardless of income, but this bill is a great step in the right direction. We know the facts about students learning better when fed and the facts about food insecurity and the facts about families having to hold down multiple jobs to pay basic bills, in addition to the stigma some students feel when it is apparent they get "free lunch". Raising the income guidelines will help to ease some of those pressures on our Granite State families. I could argue that if legislators think there is enough money to give away to private and religious schools, then there is certainly enough to feed a simple lunch to more public school students. This is just the right thing to do and I urge you to support HB 665. And thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion on this platform and I cannot be in person at the time of the hearing.
