Again, I do not support this bill because it is dictating to the Town how to manage its zoning. This usurpation of local control is a fetish of yours as seen in the many bills on Housing this year. I see there are many Republicans on the Housing Committee. Don't they know that one of the principles of Republicanism is to strive to have control as local as possible heading to just the family and then the individual if practical. This particular bill, HB459, is limiting the lot size that the Town can impose in single family neighborhoods depending on utility services. How does somebody in Concord who has never seen many NH towns know what is best for the Town. The Town decides how they want their Town to feel and look, not bureaucrats in Concord. My experience in MA is embedded in my memory due to the travesty caused by control from Boston with 40B. Serene, peaceful, safe single-family neighborhoods essentially destroyed or at the least severely negatively impacted by dense multifamily buildings being forced on the neighborhood through extortion by the developer through the cudgel of 40B. I do not want to see this happen in NH.
