Kevin Blanchette | Oppose HB392

Hello, As a Licensed community Mental Health Counselor in the state, I implore you to not pass this bill. The health of our community members is ethically a priority for us all. Aside from ethics, it is also logistically and financially smart for our state to consider health equity. Neglecting certain populations will result in higher needs for emergency care, putting stress on our hospitals and resulting in more medical bills for state funded services. It will also reduce our work force and reduce their ability to engage meaningfully in our economy. Focusing on the health of every part of our community is in the best interest of us all. This department helps health care agency understand the needs of the community better, and provides training that is required under our licensing boards to help us identify what ethical care is appropriate for the specific communities we serve. This department is not about creating ideas of systemic racism, but rather about looking into real world solutions to the health disparities in our communities. It is not about pointing fingers, but rather about finding solutions. Please allow the Office of Health Equity to continue to support all people in this great state. Thank You, Kevin Blanchette
