New Hampshire needs to be planning for the future, not dismantling the very efforts that can make us energy independent. As someone about to earn a PhD in turbine design and optimization, I know firsthand the economic and technological opportunities offshore wind presents. HB 219 would repeal the Offshore Wind Commission, a body meant to ensure that we develop wind energy in a way that benefits our state and protects our interests. Energy policy should be about smart planning and economic growth. The commission exists to bring together experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to make informed decisions. If we eliminate it, we are choosing ignorance over strategy. Offshore wind is already creating thousands of jobs in neighboring states—why would we throw away our ability to compete? Furthermore, repealing renewable energy goals sends the wrong message. These goals aren’t just about climate—they’re about ensuring that New Hampshire has a reliable, cost-effective energy future. We shouldn’t abandon our ability to lead in a growing industry. I urge you to reject HB 219 and keep New Hampshire’s energy future in our own hands
