I’d like to register my STRONG OPPOSITION to HB159. Persons with mental health issues should be treated in either inpatient or outpatient settings to return them to stable mental health. Those persons who show violence should not be released, they should be treated and kept safe, while at the same time this would keep the populace safe from them. Should they be released and lapse back into violence, the more readily available knives, switchblades, axes, hammers, glass bottles, motor vehicles, lighters and gasoline, and other weapons would be available to them as well. It’s not feasible to restrict these items, although they are deadly in the wrong hands. The problem of illegally obtained guns will continue to be a large and a major factor, because criminals do not tend to follow the law . I urge you to not pass HB159, because those with minor successfully treated mental health issues and anyone who has seen a psychiatrist should not be prevented from obtaining a legal firearm to protect themselves and their family and neighbors. Thank you for reading and considering. Rosina Lis, Stoddard, NH 508-648-5345
