Please support this bill! I work in three small public elementary schools and each day I witness the crucial importance of school lunches. Some of our youngest students often arrive at school hungry, and some families cannot afford the cost of school lunches for their children. Hungry children cannot learn. If we want students to learn, to grow up healthy in body and mind,, to grow up to become healthy and productive community members, expanding the pool of families who are eligible for free school lunches for their children is one small and easy thing and effective thing that we can do. Some school districts in our nation provide free breakfast and lunch to all students, but in the absence of this practice at least we can make sure that more families are eligible for free lunches and more children therefore will have access to needed food and nutrients at school.
