I strongly oppose this bill that seeks to dissolve the Office of Health Equity, the Department of Environmental Services' function for civil rights and environmental justice, and the Governor's Council on Diversity and Inclusion. Undermines Equity and Inclusion: These vital offices and functions play a crucial role in addressing systemic inequities and promoting a more just and equitable society. Dissolving them would significantly weaken efforts to combat discrimination, promote health equity, and ensure environmental justice for all communities. Neglects Vulnerable Populations: These offices and functions specifically address the needs of marginalized and underserved communities, including people of color, low-income individuals, and individuals with disabilities. Eliminating them would leave these vulnerable populations without critical support and representation. Damages the State's Image: This action would send a harmful message that the state does not value diversity, equity, and inclusion. It could discourage talented individuals and businesses from coming to or staying in the state which could harm the state economically. We must strive to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all. This bill moves us in the wrong direction and should be rejected
