The schools have become a major factor in the taxation rising exponentially in our towns and while I favor good schools and excellent education I do not think the educational costs that are pushing up the costs of education are always about improving the core course content and quality of education .I often think the expenses we are being asked to pay for include cosmetic alterations to the school facility that are unnecessary, adding perhaps to the appearance of a great school but not necessarily adding the educational values which should be the most important to the school programs and outcomes. The public sector is often too keen on proposes expensive changes without considering the needs of families, the other part of the education equation. Healthy homes and families which are not crushed by high taxes benefit the ability for parents to attend to their children without the worry of extreme income concerns which may come from additional taxes. This should also be a concern.
