I strongly support HB186-FN-A to legalize and regulate cannabis in New Hampshire. As all our neighboring states have legalized cannabis, it's time for New Hampshire to establish a regulated market that will generate revenue for education and treatment programs while allowing law enforcement to focus on serious crimes. Massachusetts has legalized weed since 2016 and their economy is generating millions in profits from taxes each year. NH really needs this economy boost and it will attract tourism, more development, businesses, and boost in citizen well being. The time to legalize weed in NH was yesterday but today is better late than never. Furthermore, I support the inclusion of the ability for homegrow at the primary residence. The terms listed in the bill are fair, agreeable and sensible to adhere to. It gives the option for those who cannot afford to always buy Marijuana or are disabled and cannot travel freely to be able to grow their own for recreational and/or medical use. New hampshire is a mostly rural to extended suburban state and stores/commerce are often at least a 20 minute drive, sometimes double that to get to specific businesses. I appreciate the inclusion for those who do not have the financial or physical ability to purchase Marijuana and want to cultivate for themselves from the comfort of their own home. New hampshire will be able to get a strong tax revenue either way as MA has a similar model. Most Marijuana consumers will opt to purchase tested, safe, and high quality commercial products out of convenience. This bill provides sensible regulations similar to alcohol, including age restrictions, quality control testing, and continued penalties for impaired driving. The tax revenue directed toward substance misuse prevention and treatment programs will benefit our communities and strengthen our economy that really needs the revenue boost. I urge you to vote in favor of HB186 and I think it's time to join the rest of the northeast that has cultivated a successful model for Marijuana legalization. Thank you.
