Local school boards should vote to approve all new programs adopted by the schools, especially anything that may be locally controversial. In recent history the federal government has taken to sending money with strings (i.e. controversial programs) attached to local school districts in order to force adoption of programs that would never have been locally chosen or met local priority lists. School boards should do their jobs and provide this important local oversight.
