Judith Reeve | Oppose HB100

I OPPOSE HB100 for several important reasons. 1) Rail's ability to transport many people protects the air we breathe and the clean fresh water of NH by decreasing the vast numbers of vehicles on our highways. 2.) Supporting the businesses, farms, agriculture, and small businesses . 3.) Enabling more visitors, government employees and legislators to travel to and from our state capital efficiently. Our NH economy and environment would benefit from using state funds toward the planning, constructing and managing new passenger rail projects. At the time that the Amtrak route to Portland was being proposed, I had occasion to study the issues and to contribute to the planning of the multi-modal Saco Amtrak station. As our population grows, any future rail lines in NH would reduce the number of vehicles that cause smog and air pollution. Commuting by train enables workers to spend their ride times doing work and safely communicating with others. I beg you to OPPOSE this elimination of funding for efficient, environmentally sound rail lines in New Hampshire. Respectively submitted, Judith Reeve, Hanover
